Alex Shimozono, G5
Alex was born in Boston, but soon moved south in search of
warmer weather to Blacksburg, Virginia. An athlete from a
young age, Alex excelled at baseball. His interest in
sticks (bats) and orbs (balls) led him to study chemistry,
which he did at the University of Richmond under Professor
John Gupton, where he studied the synthesis of
biologically active pyrroles. Alex came to the Reisman lab
where he has worked on a few projects, including total
synthesis, nickel catalysis, and drinking beer while
watching Netflix.
