Daniel was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Portland, Oregon. He studied chemistry at Chapman University, working on the carbodiphosphorane-catalyzed hydroboration of carbodiimides with Dr. Allegra Liberman-Martin and analyzing the concentrations of methylotrophic subtrates in peatlands and photochemical degradation of oil in seawater with Dr. Warren de Bruyn. He also completed a SURF at UC Irvine, developing a stereospecific synthesis of cyclopropanes from oxetanes. When Daniel is not in the lab, he enjoys working out, gaming, and finding new places to eat with friends.
