Massachusetts born and raised, Dave ventured to Pennsylvania to study chemistry at Villanova University. He worked with Prof. Jared J. Paul studying the proton-coupled electron transfer and photochemical properties of hydroxylated [Ru(bpy)₃]²⁺ derivatives. He then obtained his Ph. D. with Prof. Nilay Hazari at Yale, studying nickel-catalyzed cross-electrophile coupling reactions using homogeneous organic reductants. Outside of the lab Dave enjoys watching sports, playing sports, and lawn games of all kinds.
