Julie Hofstra, G3
Julie was born and raised in Bellflower, CA. She went to California State University, Fullerton and graduated with a BS in Chemistry in 2014. At CSUF she worked with Prof. Paula Hudson and Prof. Peter de Lijser studying reaction mechanisms on the photooxidation of atmospheric carboxylic acids and the photoinduced electron transfer of oxime ether radical cations. She also spent a summer conducting research on Pd-catalyzed Kumada couplings in continuous-flow under the direction of Prof. Steve Buchwald at MIT. In her free time, Julie likes to play volleyball and water polo, go camping (in her ginormous tent), hiking, and horseback riding, and enjoys cooking yummy treats for the lab.
