Cedric Lozano, G5
California born and raised, Cedric can't seem to say
goodbye to the Golden State. After growing up on the
beaches of Orange County, biking around town and
practicing his serves at the tennis court, he ventured
north to study at the University of San Francisco.
Initially interested in becoming a physician, Cedric
decided to pursue synthetic organic chemistry research
after a summer fellowship in our lab investigating
                      nickel-catalyzed reductive cross-couplings. After
graduating in 2018, Cedric worked as a research associate
at the Institute of Neurogenerative Diseases at UCSF,
broadening the scope of C–N cross-coupling reactions
under the guidance of Dr. Nick Paras. Back in Pasadena at
last, Cedric is ready to tackle synthesis and find some
                      more tennis partners.
