Gino Occhialini
Gino grew up in central Texas and completed his B.S. in Chemistry at the University of Texas at Dallas. While there, he conducted research under Prof. Ronald Smaldone focusing on covalent organic frameworks and porous organic polymers. For this work, Gino was awarded a Goldwater scholarship in 2017. Interested in branching out to methodology and mechanistic research, he attended MIT to pursue his Ph.D. under Prof. Alison Wendlandt as an NSF GRFP fellow. After receiving his Ph.D., Gino wanted to expand his synthetic skills, moving to the Reisman lab in 2025. In his free time, Gino enjoys cooking, 3D-printing, video games, and outdoor activities.
