Jess grew up in Pennsylvania. She studied chemistry at Princeton University and investigated the synthesis of complex natural products and the development of novel synthetic methodology, culminating in her senior thesis advised by Prof. Erik Sorensen. Jess is also committed to education and service. Before arriving at Caltech, she spent a year working abroad in Vietnam, teaching through the Princeton in Asia fellowship. In her free time, Jess enjoys live music, crocheting, journaling, and meeting new people!
