Joshua Belfield, G1
Josh was born in New Orleans, Louisiana where he lived until hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, he then moved to San Antonio, Texas where he spent his time prior to coming to Caltech. Joshua got his BS in Chemistry at The University of Texas at San Antonio in 2024 where he conducted research under the tutelage of Professor Doug Frantz. He started by working on Ni-Catalyzed C-N cross couplings in collaboration with BMS followed by synthesizing NaV1.7 antagonists to target chronic pain. Also, as part of his research career he spent a summer in Hayward, California at Eikon Therapeutics as a medicinal chemistry intern. Having enjoyed the industry experience, he opted to spend his next summer as a small molecule process R&D intern at Merck in Rahway, New Jersey. In his free time Josh enjoys scuba diving, pickleball, and finding new drink recipes to try!
